Legg Company Incorporated was founded in 1939. Initial growth was fueled by the agricultural belting market. Legg Company was directly responsible for the development of the integrally molded rubber cleat for swather canvas and other agricultural and industrial applications. Today’s Legg swather canvas represents the latest technology with an ozone and oxidation inhibited, oil resistant compound on an all polyester S&Z twist fabric. The cleats are an integrally molded, diamond fiberglass rod reinforced rubber cleat. In 1995, Legg Company received two patents for swather canvas technology. Because Legg Company has been manufacturing swather canvas for the entire history of the Company, no other product represents Legg’s passion for technology and product improvement more. The changes and improvements to this product over the years documents Legg Company’s commitment to ingenuity, quality, and cost control.

In the early 70’s Legg Company began a new era in agricultural belting with the advent of belting for the round hay baler. Legg Company was a pioneer in the development of the belt used in the round hay balers. Once again the ingenuity and passion for superiority motivated Legg Company to develop what is now considered the premium baler belt. Legg Company manufactures a full line of baler belting for the entire range of round hay balers on the market. Legg’s distribution and reputation for quality baler belting is worldwide.

In the late 70’s Legg Company began its penetration into the industrial belting market. The first decade of industrial belting produced a huge influx of specialty belting at Legg Company. These products were very difficult to make and in most cases the major belting manufacturers could not or would not make these products. These products were so specialized that most manufacturers lacked the technology or desire to produce them. They required specialized compounds and fabrics as well as highly sophisticated manufacturing capabilities. The development of this technology was very costly to Legg Company. It required, in most cases, something to be done with a belt that had never been accomplished before. The specialized belts took great time, patience, and fortitude to manufacture. In the end, however; Legg Company employees succeeded where others failed and the technology gained is carried on today in all of Legg Company’s products.

In 1991, Legg Company decided to enter the commodity belting market. The manufacturing of commodity belting was a natural culmination of years of specialized manufacturing and technology. If Legg Company could manufacture the incredibly difficult belts represented by the previous ten plus years; it would be an easy transition to move into commodity belting. The result is one of the broadest industrial belting lines of any US manufacturer. Legg Company produces high quality belting distributed all over the world: from the North Slopes of Canada and the North Sea in Europe, to South America, Africa, Australia, and New Zealand.
