In addition to different carcass selections, Legg Company offers a variety of different cover compounds. Legg Company has belt constructions engineered with exact compounds for specific applications, but if you would like something a little more tailor-made, we have a solution. Legg Company has a wide range of compounds for your selection. Legg Company has natural, natural/synthetic, and all synthetic compounds to fit the ever increasing demand for belt performance. Each compound is engineered for extended belt life and increased carcass performance at competitive prices. Legg compounds utilize premium polymers to start. Select additives are then used to accomplish the specific task at hand. You will find Legg Company compounds generally are a softer duro. This is due largely to our lack of fillers in our compound. After all, harder does not necessarily mean tougher, higher tensile, greater elongation, or higher tear when discussing rubber. But often, harder belt compound means more clay fillers which reduce cost and reduce performance.
| XT-GII is Legg Company’s premium RMA Grade II. It incorporates premium polymers with select additives to achieve superior performance over standard Grade IIs. It has great abrasion resistance, great tensile, tear and elongation values combined with superior adhesions. |
| GI (Grade I) is a compound used where a belt will be subjected to higher abrasion situations. It has high cut and gouge resistance and is generally used in rock handling applications. Legg Company’s GI meets or exceeds the requirements of the Rubber Manufacturers Association for Grade I belting. |
GI-P (Grade I
Premium) is Legg's premium compound for
heavy rock applications or other high impact applications. The high
elongation coupled with the high tensile is what gives it the toughness to help
withstand long drops of big rock shards*. The idea is for the top cover
to elongate with out tearing until the inertial forces have been diminished.
Coupled with Legg's Grizzly or Kodiak carcass the GI-P will make an
exceptional primary belt or under crusher belt.

| FF
(Force Field) is a very abrasion resistant
compound. Specially formulated
for high abrasion applications. We
like to think of the GI-P as the off road cut and gouge resistant cover
compound, well, the Force Field is the Semi Truck tire compound, designed
for small granular abrasive material, meant to go the long haul. |
| XT-MOR (Moderately Oil Resistant) is a moderately oil resistant version of the XT-GII compound. It maintains the qualities of the XT-GII while giving a secure level of oil resistance. With a 75% oil swell, it has a higher degree of oil resistance than you will find in many of MORs. |
| GH (MOR SC FR) The GRAIN HANDLER is engineered for use in the grain elevator industry or where a static conductive and or fire retardant belt is needed. Grain Handler is a moderately oil resistance compound used for conveying whole grains such as corn and wheat. It is not recommended for handling oil seeds such as canola or shelled sunflowers. |
| GHS (VOR SC FR) The GRAIN HANDLER SUPREME is a compound formulated for oilier applications in the grain industry. The 10% max. oil swell of the GHS’s pure Nitrile composition makes it ideal for applications such as the conveying of crushed canola. The GHS is also well suited for use with mineral oil dust suppression systems. |
| MSHA is a compound which must meet the requirements of the US Bureau of Mines 2G flame retardant test. It is largely used for below ground mining applications where the risk of fire entrapment is predominant. |
| MSHA
MOR
is a compound that meets the requirements of the US Bureau of Mines 2G flame
retardant test AND delivers a degree of oil resistance for product that has
been treated for dust suppressions in the coal or other industries.
Or to handle petroleum coke where some benzene is still in the
product. |
| HIGH HEAT is an EPDM that offers very good to excellent heat resistance with temperatures ranging to 400o F. It also offers outstanding ozone and oxidation resistance as well as very good abrasion resistance. This makes for an ideal compound for many applications. Handling high temperature products in outside environments or high temperature handling of very abrasive products. |
| HAHOR (Hot Asphalt/Heat and Oil Resistant) is a high heat NBR formulated to withstand the high temperatures and heavy oils of the asphalting industry. It offers excellent abrasion characteristics for an NBR, while maintaining the oil resistance required. With a temperature range up to 350o F it will handle your asphalt needs. It should be noted that with this compound the high temperature is only achievable when heavy oil is present. This belt is not rated above 225o F when light or no oil is present. |
| VOR
(Very Oil Resistant) is a pure Nitrile compound that has maximum oil resistance. It
is used where there is an excess of oil or oily products being conveyed. |
| CBXNBR (Carboxylated Nitrile) is one of the toughest compounds around. It offers excellent cut and gouge resistance and excellent abrasion resistance. It's uses range from corrugated boxes to scrap iron. In addition to it's toughness, it offers excellent oil resistance to most oils. Available in Rust and Blue colors. |
| WFGS (White Food Grade SBR) is a compound for use in handling consumable food products, or for products that will be consumed by consumable livestock. It is an SBR so it gives good abrasion resistance considering there is no carbon black. It can be used for non oily products such as sugar, dehydrated potatoes, and flour, just to name a few. It is formulated to meet the requirements of the FDA. |
| WFGN (White Food Grade Nitrile) is a compound for use in handling consumable food products, or for products that will be consumed by consumable livestock, that have a high oil content. It has good abrasion and cut and gouge resistance in addition to it's oil resistance. A pure Nitrile, it gives the highest level of oil resistance for oily products such as meat, soy bean meal, pre cooked potato products, and shelled nuts, to name a few. It is formulated to meet the requirements of the FDA. |
| TPG (Tan Pure Gum) is a very, very tough compound, with an exceptionally high coefficient of friction. Used where very high cut and gouge resistance, combined with a high demand for gripping the material is a must, and where abrasion is a factor. It is a non marking compound which makes it ideal for the timber products industry. This compound is so incredibly tough with such exceptional grip, you'll wonder how you ever got by with out it. |
| TNMSBR (Tan Non Marking SBR) is a tan non marking SBR. It has good tear and good abrasion resistance. A great belt for handling products where marking is not permitted. Ideal in many markets such as paper handling, finished aluminum parts, planers, sanders, lumber, packaged goods, and light conveying field. A great coefficient of friction to grip your product even at steep inclines, with out the cost of the TPG. |
| (Super Slider Back) is a specially designed compound to allow a user to run a rubber cover back in a slider bed application. With a coefficient of friction of .45 -.60 it will increase your drag over a true bare back, but much lower than traditional rubber back belts. The only solution when utilizing a bare back belt when handling fertilizers and products that produce super fines. Tech Note (Shrinking Belt) |
